After the download, you have to make one include require_once('vendor/autoload.php');. After that you have to import the classes with use statements.
Example:
If you use only one package a project is not needed. But if you use more then one package, without a project it is not possible to import the classes with use statements.
In general, it is recommended to use always a project to download your libraries. In an application normally there is more than one library needed.

In this case some credentials are needed to access such packages.

If you are using private repositories you don't need to share your credentials. You can set up everything on our site and then you provide a simple download link to your team member.

Namespace
Despite the package directory being database-legacy, the PHP namespace is Waaseyaa\Database (not Waaseyaa\DatabaseLegacy). The directory name is deliberate — see docs/adr/007-database-legacy-package-naming.md for the rationale.
API
DatabaseInterface exposes a fluent query builder and supporting services:
ConsistentReadDatabaseInterface::consistentReadTransaction() — a
repeatable-read transaction for authorization decisions that span multiple
storage reads; DBALDatabase restores the prior connection isolation when
the transaction finishes
query(), quoteIdentifier() — raw escape hatch + identifier quoting
DBALDatabase is the concrete implementation. DBALDatabase::createSqlite()
is the common S1 connection boundary. It rejects DSN/URI and network-share path
shapes, configures and verifies foreign keys plus a 5000 ms busy timeout on
every connection, and additionally verifies WAL for file-backed databases. It
builds an in-memory SQLite instance for development and tests; the production
bootstrap refuses :memory:.

Status
This is the framework's sole live database layer (depended on by core, api, entity-storage, audit, and ~12 other packages). A full retirement was implemented and merged, then reverted (2026-05-26); the package remains in active use pending the Doctrine migration. Do not treat "legacy" as "deprecated/removable".
