FAQ

After the download, you have to make one include require_once('vendor/autoload.php');. After that you have to import the classes with use statements.

Example:
If you use only one package a project is not needed. But if you use more then one package, without a project it is not possible to import the classes with use statements.

In general, it is recommended to use always a project to download your libraries. In an application normally there is more than one library needed.
Some PHP packages are not free to download and because of that hosted in private repositories. In this case some credentials are needed to access such packages. Please use the auth.json textarea to insert credentials, if a package is coming from a private repository. You can look here for more information.

  • Some hosting areas are not accessible by a terminal or SSH. Then it is not possible to use Composer.
  • To use Composer is sometimes complicated. Especially for beginners.
  • Composer needs much resources. Sometimes they are not available on a simple webspace.
  • If you are using private repositories you don't need to share your credentials. You can set up everything on our site and then you provide a simple download link to your team member.
  • Simplify your Composer build process. Use our own command line tool to download the vendor folder as binary. This makes your build process faster and you don't need to expose your credentials for private repositories.
Please rate this library. Is it a good library?

Informations about the package declarative-pdf

declarative-pdf

CI PHP

A reimagining of FPDF as a typed, declarative PDF library with a real block-layout engine. Instead of driving a cursor (AddPage / SetFont / Cell / Ln), you describe the document as an immutable tree of nodes and a measure → paginate → render → serialise pipeline places everything.

Zero runtime dependencies beyond ext-zlib, ext-mbstring and ext-dom.

The immutable Pdf\Node\* tree is public too, for when you want to build or transform it directly — see Getting started.

Gallery

Rendered by the scripts in examples/ — php examples/<name>.php.

hello — the model in one page styled — a house style via stylesheet chart — bar / line / pie / sparkline
form — AcroForm fields, self-drawn shapes — gradients + path clipping sheet — ARCH D, absolute layout

Install

Requires PHP 8.3+ with ext-zlib, ext-mbstring and ext-dom (the last for SVG import; it ships enabled in stock PHP builds). ext-gd is needed to decode GIF and WebP images; ext-iconv for font encodings other than Windows-1252.

Not yet implemented — see the roadmap: CFF font subsetting, tagged PDF / PDF-A, XMP metadata, encryption, full document-to-document merge, FDF / XFDF, dash arrays.

Development

CI runs PHPStan + PHPUnit on PHP 8.3 and 8.4, plus a job that renders every example and runs qpdf --check / pdftotext on the output. See CONTRIBUTING.md.

Embedded fonts

tools/makefont/ is FPDF's offline builder for custom-font definitions:

Licence & attribution

MIT (LICENSE). This is a from-scratch reimagining of FPDF 1.9 — the high-level API and layout engine are original; the byte-level PDF writer, font metrics / embedding, ToUnicode CMaps and image decoders were ported from FPDF (source comments citing fpdf.php:NNN refer to that release). FPDF's permissive licence and the SIL Open Font License covering the bundled test / example fonts are reproduced in NOTICE.
